GeoExchange Geothermal Top 10 Ten Questions plus Bonus Tip

Frequently Asked Questions about GeoExchange Geothermal Installations

#01 Are geoexchnage geothermal systems easy to install?

Yes, proper guidance in evaluating, designing and consulting these geoexchange geothermal systems can be installed by any capable person with a general knowledge of construction and plumbing. The start-up and verification should be overseen by an HVAC expert. Geoexchange Geothermal can be for you.

#02 Open or closed loop design geothermal geoexchange system?

Think about your fridge…the fridge is cool or cold on the inside but the coil or "loop" is warm from exchanging the heat from the inside to the coil "loop". The term geoexchange geothermal "closed-loop" is used to describe a geothermal heat pump system that uses a continuous or parallel loop of special buried plastic pipe (HDPE pipe) as a heat exchanger. The pipe is connected to the indoor heat pump to form a sealed, underground or underwater (lake or pond) loop. The planet friendly geoexchange geothermal 20% antifreeze solution is circulated through the loop piping.

#03 The best GeoExchange geothermal loop system is?

If you have a large open area consider a geoexhnage geothermal horizontal closed loop design. A smaller space a vertical geoexchange geothermal closed loop design. A water source could use a pond, lake or ocean geothermal open loop. A ground water well open loop geoexchange geothermal system is an option too. As geoexchange geothermal consultants we will step in and advise you on the best layout and type. geoexchange@magnumpm.com or 1.866.624.6868

#04 Need Geoexchange Geothermal facts about a horizontal closed loop?

Trenches are normally four to 6 feet deep, 3.5 feet wide, and 200 - 300 feet long. One of the advantages of a geoexchange geothermal horizontal loop system is being able to dig the trenches according to the shape of your property. As a rule of thumb, 400-600 feet of pipe in 200-300 foot trenches is required per ton of (geoexchange geothermal) system capacity, depending on the moisture level of the soil is. A modern 2,500 square foot home requires a three-ton +~ geoexchange geothermal system with 1,200-1,800 feet of pipe. 1200' in a lake/pond or ocean loop, add 50% for dry sandy soil.

#05 Need Geoexchange Geothermal facts about a vertical closed loop?

Closed-loop geoexchange geothermal systems can also be vertical. Drilled holes are bored to about 200 feet per ton of geoexchange geothermal heat pump capacity. U-shaped loops of pipe are inserted in the holes. The holes are then back filled with a sealing or bentonite grout solution. Magnum Quick Geoexchange Tip!! When vertical drilling for a geoexchange geothermal closed system do not rule out an open well system if you hit water. Call your geoexchange consultant 1.866.624.6868 for details or email geoexchange@magnumpm.com

#06 Need facts about an open geoexchange geothermal loop?

The term "open-loop" is a geothermal heat pump system that uses groundwater from a conventional well for heating or cooling. The groundwater is pumped into the geoexchange geothermal heat pump unit where heat is extracted (or rejected in the cooling mode), then the water is returned to the earth in another well, pond or leaching field (depending on local by-laws) without any effect other than a slight temperature change. When within the scope of local laws open geoexchange geothermal systems can draw water from rivers, lakes, ponds or the ocean. . Call your geoexchange consultant 1.866.624.6868 for details or email geoexchange@magnumpm.com

#07 More facts about an open geoexchange geothermal loop?

Geothermal heat pumps used in open-loop systems need differing amounts of water depending on the size of the unit and the manufacturer's specifications. The water requirement of a geoexchange geothermal specific model is usually expressed in US gallons per minute (gpm) and is listed in the specifications for that unit. Generally, the average system will use 6-10 US gpm while operating. Magnum Quick Geoexchange Tip!! A rule of thumb is 2 US gallons per minute for every geoexchange geothermal design ton of the geoexchange loop system. Call your geoexchange consultant 1.866.624.6868 for details or email geoexchange@magnumpm.com

#08 Facts hot water and an open closed geoexchange geothermal loop?

A de-superheater, some types of geothermal heat pumps can save you up to 50 percent on your domestic water-heating bill by preheating water. De-superheaters are standard on many geoexchange geothermal heatpumps, optional on others. Some models can provide all of your water needs for in-floor heating, domestic hot water, etc. on demand. Call your geoexchange consultant 1.866.624.6868 for details or email geoexchange@magnumpm.com

#09 Facts about renovating my existing home using an open closed geoexchange geothermal loop?

Homes or commercial buildings with existing ductwork can usually be used for geoexchange geothermal heating cooling distribution. Magnum Quick Geoexchange Tip!! A rule of thumb, yes! Magnum Project Management is able to determine ductwork requirements and any minor modifications, if needed.. What is GeoExchange?

GeoExchange is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective alternative to expensive, waste-producing, non-sustainable energy options. Commonly known by other names such as GeoThermal Heating and Cooling, Ground Source Heat Pumps, and Earth Coupled Heat Pumps, GeoExchange is the new international trade name for such a system. Practical in its method, GeoExchange heat pumps are installed in the basement or mechanical room of the building and are connected to underwater or underground pipes called loops which extend into the site footprint.

These loops collect the 51% of extra energy that the sun transmits into the earth each year. In the heating months, the energy is transformed by the heat pump into a usable form. In the cooling season, the energy is transmitted back to the earth where it came from, hence "Geo Exchange". This proven technology is an affordable, effective, and environmentally sound way of heating or cooling your home. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, GeoExchange is the most energy-efficient, environmentally clean, and cost-effective space-conditioning system available on the market today.

Because it's Affordable and Reliable…

Advantages for the Owner

  • GeoExchange technology is proven to reduce annual heating and cooling costs by up to 70%.
  • Many geoexchange geothermal installation fees will pay off quickly with the money saved from your heating bills.
  • Pipes and geoexchange geothermal loop are installed under ground or water, away from harsh weather conditions, wild animals, and vandalism.
  • GeoExchange equipment is virtually hassle-free after installation; it has the longest life expectancy of all heating and cooling equipment.
  • Reduces water heating costs by about 30% annually as an added geoexchange geothermal bonus.
  • System is virtually free of moving parts and exposure and is therefore extremely reliable. Go geoexchange geothermal.
  • Warranties of up to 50 years for the geoexchange geothermal loop materials.
  • Options are endless for the buyer; you can choose a geoexchange geothermal system to meet your individual needs.
  • Superior air quality in your home when using geoexchange geothermal
  • GeoExchange systems are proven to outperform all leading energy systems.
  • The comfort of knowing that you are being environmentally responsible and aware using geoexchange geothermal.
  • GeoExchange technology adds value when you go to resell your home.

Because it's Green…geoexchange geothermal!

Advantages for the Earth

  • Because GeoExchange technology does not burn fossil fuels, it releases a significantly smaller number of greenhouse gas emissions each year, which contribute to ozone depletion and global warming.
  • Completely (geoexchange geothermal) eliminates poisonous carbon monoxide from the home, which furnaces potentially create.
  • If just 100,000 homes were converted to GeoExchange, CO2 Emissions would be reduced by 880 000 00 lbs.
  • The waste heat removed from homes during the cooling season can be used to heat hot water, swimming pools, or hot tubs, reducing emissions even further.
  • A typical geoexchange geothermal two bedroom house-sized installation is equivalent to taking two cars off the road or planting one acre of trees.
  • GeoExchange is a renewable energy source. With fossil fuels and other natural resources depleting, GeoExchange is a practical and responsible form of sustainable energy.

Because it's Best.
